The work showing Lakshmi, the Goddess of Fortune, standing on the lotus seat is a typical iconography in Hinduism. In this work, however, the elephant which is usually depicted with the Goddess disappear to emphasise the sensuality of the half-naked Goddess. Instead of using pigments, the artist uses oil paints to express the reality of the flesh. It is a contemporary Thanka developed from the traditional religious painting.
